It’s that time again. After a long week of reviewing custards last week for our first ever custard battle, I was pretty pleased to get back to a wider variety of different flavors to test. This week I banged out 11 reviews for juices from 11 different vendors and found some clear winners and losers.
Before I get too far in to that, I just wanted to note something about these battles and the selection process. There were a few complaints last week about various custards not being included in the first custard battle. I want to be clear here and point out that my intention last week was not to pick out the best custard from a predetermined group of 11 of the most popular custards, rather it was to pick out the best custard form 11 custards that I evaluated.
If I were only reviewing what I thought were the most popular juices in a given genre each week – first off, it would get boring fast because it wouldn’t take long to breeze through the super popular ones, and second off, by not trying lesser known custards, we lose the opportunity to explore some outside-the-box options that you might not normally buy.
So while I do think it’s important to include popular juices that are already among people’s favorites, I think it is equally important to explore the lesser known ones.
Specificially talking about the custards, there are so many that I could do many more custard battles. My hope is to keep running them periodically, and then eventually go back and pit the best performing custards from the various battles against each other in more of a best of the best type of format.
The selection process is basically the same for regular juice battles where I just match up a bunch of random juices. There’s nothing scientific about it. I pretty much just rate what I have on hand and there is no particular priority to it.
So, that is why it is super important that you guys keep me posted on what you want to see here – leave a message in the comments if you want to see a particular juice featured, or a particular theme. I’m open to reviewing just about everything and I don’t give any priority to juice from any particular company.
With that said, let’s get on with it…
#11 Vape Dudes: Honey Grove
Coming in at dead last this week is Honey Grove by Vape Dudes. Here’s what they say about it:
Think about opening a jar of honey and taking a whiff. Light honeysuckle notes. Honey Grove is very floral and sweet. This tobacco vape is light in color.
This one was pretty much unvapable for me. I don’t know if it’s just me or what, but most honey flavored vapes I have tried have a very strong floral and perfumy overtone to them that is really off-putting. I don’t liken it to anything reminiscent of honey at all, and the flavor is so thick and abrasive that it is impossible for me to vape. It is actually so bad that it will linger on your atomizer afterwards and give anything you put in there a funky undertone.
It’s really a shame because the juice vapes really well, but the flavor is just so far gone that it makes this juice totally unvapable for me.
#10 Aero Juice: Pharaoh
Coming in at #10 this week is Pharaoh from Aero Juice. Here’s what they say about it:
“Lord of the two lands.” A kingdom full of warm spices, fruits, and enlightenment.
I really hated this one. It’s a shame too because this was my last Aero Juice that needed reviewing and I thought all their previous juices were pretty good. So while I was hoping to end things with a bang, it turned out to be a huge bust.
On paper, this juice sounds great. I am always up for trying juices with exotic spices. Unfortunately, this one absolutely reeks of clove. While it promises fruity flavors, there is maybe only a slight sweetness to it at best, and everything else is totally dominated by the clove. Additionally, for whatever reason this juice gave me a really odd numbing sensation on my tongue. Kind of like when your Novocaine starts wearing off after a dentist visit.
While it did hit really well for a 12mg juice, the bad far outweighed the good on this one. To put it simply, it just didn’t taste good at all.
#9 Halo: Mystic
Coming in at #9 this week was Mystic from Halo. Here’s what they say about it:
Mystic E-liquid offers a refreshing menthol e-liquid blend with a delightfully light sweetness and mixed mint undertones. With no underlying tobacco taste and a robust menthol effect, Mystic Menthol E-liquid is a great choice for those seeking a crisp-clean menthol flavor from their e-liquid.
So this one is basically a pure menthol ejuice. As I am not a huge menthol fan, this one was naturally not going to get super high marks for me. I thought that this one was a lot less intense than their Sub Zero, which I think had both menthol and cooler in it. This one I think is more of a true menthol.
They were dead on with their description, in that it literally is just pure menthol. The problem is, I don’t find the taste of pure menthol to be that great at all. Sure, it’s ok on the back end of a Newport, but just pure menthol by itself is way too medicinal tasting for me to enjoy.
So flavor wise, this one did absolutely nothing for me. Where I do think it would be good is for new vapers with weaker devices who are switching over from smoking menthol cigarettes. Since it has the nice menthol kick, this juice should perform pretty well on a weaker device and still give a relatively satisfying hit that is reminiscent of a menthol cigarette. That is pretty much where this juice shines. Beyond that, I don’t think it has much to offer.
#8 Azure Vaping: Strawberry Citrus
Rolling right along, we’re up to #8 – Strawberry Citrus by Azure Vaping. Here’s what they say about it:
Sweet strawberries and juicy citrus fruits.
This one was interesting for me. As I mentioned in my initial review, Strawberry Citrus was one of the first juices I ever bought, way back in 2012. I had a sample bottle, and I liked it so much that a year later I bought a 120ml. Unfortunately, it was not nearly as good the second time around. I guess that consistency is an issue you are going to battle with from time to time when you deal with these bargain basement vendors.
Basically, this juice is a glorified strawberry flavor. It doesn’t taste of anything more than a simple artificial strawberry flavor. It was totally lacking the citrus kick that really made all the flavors pop the first time around. Additionally, I found it to be a very dry vape and not particularly full. The throat hit was good for an 80% PG juice, but the vapor production was especially poor, making this a pretty bad all around vape. While it’s a super cheap price for a lot of strawberry juice, you can do better.
#7 Eliquid Market: Mango
Coming in at #7 this week is Eliquid Market’s Mango. Here’s what they say about it:
The Mango Dekang e liquid is one of our boldest fruit flavors. This Mango Dekang e liquid has a great mango taste and provides a nice throat hit. You can taste the Mango from the beginning, and it has a great aftertaste.
These juices are basically nothing more than repackaged Dekang juices. That said, I have reviewed quite a few from Eliquid Market, and I generally really like them. Sometimes simplicity can be the path of least resistance.
Unfortunately, I didn’t really care for Mango nearly as much as I have liked some of their previous flavors. For one thing, I don’t think it tastes as clearly of mango as it could. It does have a nice mango vibe to it, but it is not super crisp, and feels kind of cloudy to me. It doesn’t vape nearly as well as some of the other juices I’ve recently reviewed from them. The throat hit is just OK at 12mg, and the vapor isn’t particularly good. I have tried this in carto tanks and clearomizers, and I haven’t found a tank yet that this juice performs well in.
Overall, it’s a pretty poor representation of mango, and the quality of the flavor just isn’t there for me. It’s not a very good all around vape.
#6 MBV Raspberry Milkshake
Coming in at #6 in the middle of the pack this week is Get Razzled from MBV. Here’s what they say about it:
So I didn’t actually realize this was a milkshake flavor until I went and found the description while writing my review. My original impression was that it was just a basic raspberry flavor. Moo Juice is one of their most popular flavors, and it is supposed to be a strawberry milkshake flavor. Moo Juice has a very strong milkshake component to it, which is why it is so delicious.
Get Razzled, on the other hand, does not. I couldn’t taste the milkshake component of it at all, and that was pretty unfortunate because Moo Juice is a great juice, and a raspberry twist on it would have been nice.
Now on the plus side, it’s actually not a bad raspberry flavor. Average, sure, but not bad. Certainly not unvapable. There’s really just nothing super special about this juice. It hits OK – could be better, but it’s not the worst. Vapor production is OK. The flavor is pretty full – I would say about 75% of where I would like it to be, and of course, the price is right.
If you really want a cheap, serviceable raspberry vape, then you could do a lot worse than this one, but for me there was nothing special about this that would make me want to buy it again.
#5 Vapetrik: Foxy Fuel
Coming in at #5 this week rounding out the top of the countdown is Foxy Fuel by Vapetrik. Here’s what they say about it:
Introducing Foxy Fuel, a sparkly, fruity vape with hints of berries, cream and nice sweet ending. Prepare to blast off into ecstasy!
This was another one that I simply had no idea what the hell it was supposed to be until I went and read the description. There were no discernible flavors in it at all that would have given me any clues to its flavor profile.
It pulls from a candy red palate. I would say it is probably most close to a candy strawberry flavor. I really didn’t detect a strong presence of cream or sparkle in this vape. Usually if a juice has cream in it, I can tell without needing to read the description. Ditto for the sparkle.
This one just didn’t have it.
Now on the plus side, it actually vaped really well. It had a powerful throat hit at 16mg, and produced awesome clouds, so performance wise, this juice is spot on. I also like the fact that the flavor was on the lighter side. For a candy strawberry based vape, this one is actually pretty mellow and suitable for long term vaping.
My biggest beef with it is there really isn’t much of a wow factor. The flavor is pretty average.
Not recommended, but it wouldn’t be the worst to try in a sample size.
#4 Naturally-Extracted-Tobacco Black Cavendish
Coming in at #4 this week is Black Cavendish from Naturally-Extracted-Tobacco.
I was very tempted to place this one lower because the throat hit was not stellar, but the taste and overall vape is SO good that I believe it deserves to be in the upper echelon this week.
This is a super smooth and robust NET. I would put it as medium bodied, despite it’s super dark appearance. It has warm earthy and woody notes you expect from a good NET with no bitterness or sweetness and a super smooth and dry finish. The tastes is absolutely spot on, and it’s without question the best Cavendish I have tried to date.
The big issue is the poor throat hit. Now I ordered mine at 30% PG and 12mg. I would never do this again. Pretty much all of their juices that I’ve tried at 12mg have been way too weak on the throat hit. To get the best experience with this juice, you really need it at 24 mg, and I would suggest a minimum 50/50 blend, or otherwise higher PG. If you do that, you should be able to squeeze a sufficient throat hit out of it. Otherwise, it’s going to under perform.
Not recommend- UNLESS you get it in high nic, high PG.
#3 Yaeliq: Citrus Plasma
Coming in at second runner up this week is Yaeliq with Citrus Plasma. Here’s what he says about it:
Citrus fruits explosion. Some people like it as a candy to Vape from time to time but more and more people love it for all day Vape. Anyway it’s a winner.
I’m not known for being an overly big fan of Yaeliq juices, but I love to give credit where credit is due. Citrus Plasma is a really solid juice, and deserves to be where it is in this battle.
It starts off with kind of a cool off-green color that looks great in a tank.
The flavor profile, I found to be very similar to Mountain Dew. It’s light, citrusy and has kind of a mellow and sweet finish. I thought it was almost spot on to the Azure Mountain Dew juice I reviewed a while back and I’m very familiar with.
It’s a lighter vape overall, and I found it to be a little on the dry side. The throat hit was also slightly below what I have come to expect from Yaeliq juices.
So what I would suggest is getting this one with max flavor, max sour and bump the sweet up a notch or two. Then get it with higher nic and PG to enhance the throat hit. I think this would also be a good candidate for a shot of cooler if you are into that.
If you make these customizations, which are free, I believe this could easily be a go-to juice. You just need to take the time to get it dialed in to exactly what you need.
It has a really light and non-abrasive flavor, so I think this one could easily be a daily vape for many once it’s dialed in.
#2 ECBlends: Popsicle USA
This week’s Runner Up is Popsicle USA from ECBlends. Here’s what they say about it:
Customer Description: ” A taste of summer – that familiar red, whie and blue ice pop, fresh from the ice cream truck! A bit of Cool Hit® gives it an icy touch!”
Sometimes it’s the juices I least expect that turn out to be the best. When I saw this 0mg bottle of Popsicle USA sitting in my review box last Monday, I decided to throw it in for review this week more as an afterthought and to get it out of the way. I never expected I would really like it.
Wow, was I ever wrong. This is actually a really great juice. First off, think of picking up an ice cold Bomb Pop off an Ice Cream Truck as a kid. That is EXACTLY what this juice tastes like. It’s got the sour tang of the lemonade mixed with the sweet fruityness of the blue raspberry. They combine perfectly in this vape to replicate the exact flavor of a good ol’ Bomb Pop.
Then, they take it a step further by giving it an icy cool finish. Not a menthol finish, but a cool finish.
This is the first 0mg juice I have ever tried that actually made me cough the first couple times I hit it. The cooler gives it a mean kick – even enough to spice up a boring 0mg nic level.
The flavors were perfectly balanced, the cooler at the end really elevates this to the next level, and it produces great vapor. All that coupled with the fact that this juice even hits well at 0mg makes this one a true winner in my book.
As much as this one doesn’t sound particularly interesting, once you try it you will see that it is a very dymanic juice and it is super tasty and refreshing. I am pretty sure I will actually be getting another bottle of this one.
#1 Ahlusion: Berry Shangri-La Tea
This week’s winner is Berry Shangri-La Tea by Ahluision. Here’s what they say about it:
A blend of our berries, coconuts and oriental spices infused tea – definitely another flavorful signature Ahlusion vape. Add a touch of mint for an even more refreshing taste.
This is really a phenomenal juice. As I mentioned in the original review, I actually didn’t much like it when I tried it straight out of the bottle on the day it arrived. I put it back in my review box where it sat up until last Monday when I decided to finally bust it out and give it a review.
I was amazed by how much the flavor had improved. This is an extremely delicious juice. It is absolutely gushing with flavor. This is one of the fullest flavored juices I’ve tasted in quite a while. The sweetness and tartness of the berries is cut by a mild grassy undertone and very subtle coconut notes. In fact, you probably wouldn’t even know this juice contained coconuts unless you read the description – but the coconut is there in a very mild capacity that I think is perfectly balanced in this juice.
Let’s talk about throat hit and vapor. This juice is 100% VG, and it still had probably the best throat hit of any juice I tried this week, while at the same time producing thick clouds like you would expect from a max VG juice.
Combine that with the amazing and unique flavor, and it creates a near perfect vaping experience.
Now I’m not the biggest fan of berry vapes – but this one is an absolute must try for even the pickiest vapor. All the flavors are balanced so perfectly, and there are so many interesting notes that pop out at you, that even the pickiest palate will probably find something it likes with this particular juice.
Highly recommended. Everyone should try this juice at least once. Just remember it needs to steep!
The Bottom Line
What a week. I didn’t uncover as many winners this week, but I definitely found some clear losers to stay away from and the winners I found were very good.
Next week will be another standard juice battle, and then I have plans to do a Cinnamon Roll battle the following week if everything goes according to schedule. Please, if you have a juice you would like to see featured, let me know now so that I can get it here in time.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned!
