Weekly Juice Battle 16

Last week was probably one of my best weeks vaping ever. I got to review 11 different juices, many of which were very good. In addition, I finally decided to fix my Fatty clone, and once I set up a sick coil on it, it quickly became my go-to RDA and I’ve been enjoying some of the best quality vapes of my entire vaping career thus far. I also tried a new method of turning genesis tanks into auto drippers which has been working AMAZINGLY well, and I will have tutorials out this week on rigging up a Kracken and Pulse-G using this new configuration I have been testing.

Anyway, enough with the formalities – we’ve got 11 juices in this week’s battle so let’s get on with it!

#11 Shark Juice: Chicken and Waffles

Coming in dead last this week is Shark Juice’s Chicken and Waffles. Here’s what they say about it:

If you don’t already know about Chicken & Waffles then you better stop by and pick up a bottle of this signature flavor from Shark Juice Premium E-Liquid.

UPDATE: #1 Bestseller? You guessed it, Shark’s Chicken & Waffles! Since opening day the fan base for this flavor just keeps on growing!

Shark’s Chicken & Waffles Premium E-Liquid will hit your taste-buds hard and leave you hungry for more.

After their Kowrona stole my heart last week and easily dominated the juice battle, I decided to try out what is likely their most ambitious flavor currently and put it to the test to see if it was equally as amazing as Kowrona.

Unfortunately, the results of this one couldn’t have been more opposite of last week’s. With such an unusual flavor combination, I wasn’t really expecting much to begin with. In fact, taste-wise, this actually came pretty close to what I had envisioned. It doesn’t really taste like biting into a piece of the Colonel’s Extra Crispy. The chicken flavor is more like the flavor packet in a bowl of ramen noodles. It’s got that synthetic chicken stock kind of vibe going. And really, that’s not too bad. The waffle component isn’t terrible either. On the inhale you get the chicken stock flavor mixed with a fairly strong maple flavor, and it does give you a kind of chicken and waffles vibe. So they were fairly true to description on this one.

The question is, is the flavor actually conducive to vaping or not? Personally, it’s not something that I can picture myself craving and having a bottle on auto-order every month. At best, it’s a novelty and at worst, it’s an oddity that is best suited for fucking with your friends.

Really, what was the worst thing about this juice for me was that it simply didn’t vape well at all. This was the only 24mg juice I vaped this week, and it also had the worst throat hit out of any juice I vaped this week. I have never had a 24 mg juice put out a worse throat hit than this one. Vapor was not much better either. Ever hit felt like the airhole on my IGO-L was not correctly aligned with the coil – even though it actually was. I don’t know what the deal with this stuff is, but the quality of the vape was so bad that it rendered this one unvapable for me – to the point where it’s not even worth using it to fuck with my friends.

#10 Yaeliq: Strawberry Lollipop

Coming in at #10 this week is Yaeliq’s Strawberry Lollipop.

No description for this one as he has temporarily pulled all his juices due to a promotion from Phil Busardo. Which brings me to a good point – I have seen some reputable names in the vaping world – Pbusardo and Vapor Joe promoting the hell out of Yaeliq juice like it’s the greatest thing going right now. I honestly don’t understand it at all.

I mean sure, it is cheap as hell and he has a lot of selection, but I have tried at LEAST 30 different flavors including over 20 tobaccos, and nearly every one I have tried has frankly been pretty bad. So while he does have some good stuff here and there, I really don’t understand how people can be hyping Yaeliq so much – my only conclusion is that they either haven’t actually sampled much of it, or they have some ulterior motive.

At any rate, back to Strawberry Lollipop. I found this juice to be quite horrible. As I put it in my original review, it tastes just like one of those shitty Safety Pops they used to give you at doctor’s appointments when you were a kid. The kind of lollipop that you aren’t really excited to eat, but you end up eating it anyway because it’s there.

That’s basically what this is. It’s a very shitty ejuice that is just vapable enough that you can’t throw it in the garbage. I mean, it’s got a very artificial strawberry candy flavor to it, and nothing else. It vapes decently well. That’s about it.

Now if this was the only bottle of juice I had and I was stuck with it for a couple days, I could probably get by on it, but there is absolutely nothing extraordinary about it whatsoever, and it is probably one of the most sorry flavors I’ve tried to date. If Chicken and Waffles wasn’t SO bad, this surely would have been in last place this week.

#9 MBV: Arnold Palmer

Coming in at #9 this week is MBV’s Arnold Palmer. Here’s what they say about it:

An Arnold Palmer is a beverage consisting of iced tea and lemonade, named after American golfer Arnold Palmer.

I get most of my ejuice in bulk from various classifieds rather than go pick it out on each vendor’s website. Arnold Palmer, however, I actually specifically picked out from MBV because I thought it sounded like a great idea for an ejuice flavor.

Don’t let the non-last-place finish fool you – this one is really not much better than the previous 2. Basically the problem with it is the same problem I’ve had with some other MBV flavors – it simply doesn’t have any flavor. Now I was so shocked by the lack of flavor I went to their website to find 81 reviews of this juice. Most of the people complained of too much lemon flavor and not enough tea flavor. I thought, shit, I would have loved to have too much lemon because at least it would be SOMETHING. To me, the flavor is so faint on this juice that it really doesn’t taste of anything at all.

I mean, if I really try, I can pick out very faint hints of lemon but nobody should have to try that hard to taste their juice.

What’s more fucked up about this whole thing – I paid extra for 3 flavor shots. I mean, what a fucking joke. I always have pretty much thought that flavor shots are bullshit to begin with, because really juices should be blended to the correct level of flavor to begin with, but hell if I am paying for extra flavor shots there should at least be SOME flavor.  Sadly, not the case this time around.

The only reason it beat out Yaeliq and Shark juice this week is because it vaped halfway decent, and I always say no flavor is better than bad flavor and the previous 2 were just flat out bad.

#8 Velvet Cloud Vapor: Candy Bar

Coming in at #8 this week is Candy Bar from VCV. Here’s what they say about it:

A Sweet, Thick Blend of Peanuts, Caramel, Nougat, and Chocolate.

This one was nowhere near as poor as the previous 3. All the rest of the juices from here are fairly vapable.

That said, this one was kind of weird for me. It’s got a very dark brown flavor palate. It doesn’t scream out any particular flavors like you would expect from a dessert juice of this style. The flavor that stuck out to me the most was probably the nougat, which doesn’t particularly have a strong flavor to begin with. The whole thing is kind of a very mellow rich and semi-sweet experience. No flavors really jump out at you, and frankly, I didn’t think it tasted anything like an actual candy bar at all.

Now the more I vaped this one, the more I kind of started to like it, but in the end, I did not end up reaching for this one a lot this week. It just wasn’t that good.

#7 Seduce Juice: P’napple Cake

Coming in #7 this week is P’napple Cake from Seduce Juice. Here’s what they say about it:

Pinapple upside down cake flavor that hits all the flavors of eating it. We start with our signature cream base, and infuse pineapple, cake, and just a hint of cherry.

This one was interesting to me. This is now the second pineapple upside down cake juice I have tried, and the second time that it fell way short of the mark. And this one was even worse than the first one. Really, I didn’t even hardly get a trace of pineapple in the whole juice – not only that, but I didn’t get any real trace of cake either. The only flavor that I got from this juice was the cherry, which I could really give two shits about to begin with. I don’t understand why it is so hard to get the pineapple flavor right in a pineapple upside down cake flavor, but this is two times it has happened now.

The weird thing about this juice is while I didn’t think it tasted anything like pineapple, I actually had no problems vaping quite a bit of it – in fact I polished off the whole bottle just 2 days after starting in on it.

I’m really not sure why, because the flavor was really not that good – but for whatever reason this was a fairly nice all around vape. I would say this is the kind of juice you maybe want to tack on a small bottle of to your existing order. Beyond that, I can’t see anyone ever ordering this one twice because it just isn’t that good and doesn’t taste the way it is supposed to.

#6 Five Pawns: Grandmaster

Coming in 6th place this week is Grandmaster from Five Pawns. Here’s what they say about it:

GRANDMASTER: Smooth creamy peanut butter with banana cream and balanced with velvety caramel. Buttery and smooth with a medium bodied throat hit.

After I hated Shmuffer Shmutter last week, a similar style juice, I decided to give another one a try to see if it would fare any better.

If you don’t know anything about 5 pawns, basically they are one of the most expensive vendors out there – with their juice costing somewhere in the neighborhood of $1/ml depending on the size of the bottle you buy.

For me, this one does not even come close to living up to the pricetag. It’s basically a super rich dessert type vape with a pretty strong savory- almost salty presence. It starts with a very mild banana on the inhale and the rest of the vape is taken over by a very strong peanut butter presence. The peanut butter is very rich and more on the savory/salty side than the sweet/creamy side. I didn’t find any real traces of caramel in the vape at all. Now I do like the way that they used the banana in this vape – the banana was the thing that absolutely ruined Shmuffer Shmutter for me, and I thought Five Pawns did a good job of balancing it out a lot better so that it’s more of an undertone rather than dominating the entire vape.

Beyond a nice use of the banana, they didn’t do much else with this one that excited me. It kind of reminded me of Light Side Lucidity, which although I kind of thought it was a mess too and way too rich, at least it didn’t cost $1/ml.

So this one, for me, did not live up to the hype at all. Not only is it totally not worth the extravagant price, it wouldn’t even be worth buying at a rock bottom price. This is a one timer for me.

#5 Good Life Vapor: Eve’s Mistake

Starting off our top 5 this week is Eve’s Mistake by Good Life Vapor. Here’s what they say about it:

A sweet green apple with a whole bunch of menthol. If you don’t like menthol, this one is not for you. BUT if you do like menthol, this is the ultimate vape!

This one was really interesting for me. First off, I’m not much of a menthol fan and this one is THICK with menthol. Second off, it has a green apple base which is usually a very strong flavor and I honestly did not get much of a green apple vibe from this one.

That said, this is probably the best heavy menthol vape I have tried to date. The menthol is extremely heavy, as described and the flavor is quite light. I thought it reminded me a lot of sweet tarts with a little sparkle to it – like champagne or something. Whatever it is, it mingles extraordinarily well with the menthol and makes the whole vape a lot lighter. The lightness of it makes it a lot more palatable for someone like me who isn’t super keen on menthol to begin with.

Additionally, the menthol really gives this vape a hell of a kick. This was probably one of the most hard hitting juices I tried this week.

Even for a menthol hater like myself, I really have to give them credit on this one because it is a very good vape. I could see menthol fans really gravitating towards this juice.

#4 Naturally Extracted Tobacco: Balkan

Coming in 4th place this week is Balkan from Naturally-Extracted-Tobacco. Here’s what they say about it:

An aromatic Balkan-style pipe tobacco comprised of Macedonia and Virginia leaves expertly blended with Latakia for a bold, unique tasting vape.

First of all, I was really happy to see that their site is now back up and they are taking orders again. Balkan was a really nice juice across the board. I have had some problems with the past few juices from them not having much throat hit, but this one had a perfectly satisfying throat hit for me at 12 mg. Now that said, I would still probably bump this one up to 18 next time, but 12 was suitable for me.

The flavor of this juice is really interesting. It is very dry, earthy and peppery. The pepper notes in it actually really remind me of Cuban tobacco. I’m not a huge tobacco aficionado, so I don’t really know if this is anywhere close to Cubans or not, but it tastes loosely similar to me, except more medium to full-bodied.

I vaped through 3/4 of a bottle of this in about 1 day – I really enjoyed it thoroughly. That said it does have a stronger, more pronounced flavor than the more traditional NET flavor I am used to which is a little more dry and light. Because of that, I think this one can wear on you after a while. After going heavy on it for about a day, I really haven’t had much of a taste for it since.

It is a really nice change-of-pace juice though for sure, and absolutely worth a try if you are a fan of NETs because this one is the most unique flavor I have tried from them yet.

#3 Alice in Vapeland: Ginger by the Sea

Our third place finisher for this week was Ginger by the Sea from Alice in Vapeland. Here’s what they say about it:

A fresh sea breeze . .
. . . so calm and serene . .
And a mist of spice . .
. . . To awaken your senses!

This was my first juice ever from AIV, and I absolutely love it. On a different week, I could easily see this one taking first place. Basically, this was a perfectly smooth ginger flavor. No extra bullshit, just a great ginger flavor. It didn’t have any of the spice that is sometimes associated with ginger, and it’s not overly sweet, so I was able to vape a ton of this stuff and not get even the slightest bit burned out on it.

That’s really all there is to it. It’s just a very good ginger flavored juice. It hits great and produces hella clouds. I really can’t find any flaws with it at all.

Now if you aren’t a big ginger fan, you aren’t going to like this one. If you’re not sure, you might want to try it in a small size before going ham on it, because it is a pretty pronounced flavor. Personally I love ginger in all forms so this was right up my alley. I am easily going to plow through the rest of my bottle, and I could totally see myself ordering this one again.

#2 The Plume Room: Angel Sauce

This week’s runner up is Angel Sauce by the Plume Room. Here’s what they say about it:

Another original from The Plume Room, this mouth watering juice will breathe new life into your old juice rotation!
“Angel Sauce” delicately blends the zesty, citrus flavor of orange and sweet lime with
a creamy raspberry…evoking a delightful ”Rainbow Sherbet” flavor that is an absolute treat to vape!

This was the final juice I reviewed this week, and I haven’t been able to put it down since I first picked it up. The flavor profile on this juice is really very delicious. It reminds me a lot of passion fruit in the way that it tastes. I think it has something to do with the way the raspberry works with the citrus.

The citrus gives this juice a really refreshing and crisp finish that is absolutely addictive.

I am constantly pulling different notes from this one, and it always leaves me wanting more. This is probably one of the best mixed fruit vapes I have tried since Moon Rock Madness. It is loosely similar but more fruity and less candy-like.

It vapes incredibly well at 12mg, which I love. Throat hit is spot on and the vapor is nice and thick. The scent of the vapor isn’t particularly good on this one, which is kind of a bummer – but not enough to keep me from vaping the hell out of this stuff.

#1 The Vapor Chef: Hobbes’ Blood

This week’s big winner is Hobbes’ Blood by the Vapor Chef. Here’s what he says about it:

Watermelon, strawberry and a very light hint of coconut.  Think of the “Tigers Blood” snow cone or shave ice flavor.  Just like that!

Even though Shmuffer Shmutter didn’t fare so well last week, I knew the best was yet to come from TVC and Hobbes’ Blood didn’t disappoint.

I really liked this vape a lot. I think out of all the juices I vaped this week, the flavor was the most “full” on this one, by a pretty wide margin. And full in a good way – not in a overpowering way. Even though the flavor is quite strong and it is more on the sweet side, this juice doesn’t wear on you at all.

In fact, when I started getting burned out after vaping Balkan for about a day straight, the juice I kept thinking about was this one.

It pretty much tastes perfectly of watermelon with a subtle blast of strawberry that mixes in very nicely. The coconut aspect really wasn’t there for me, which is too bad, but this juice didn’t need it anyway, there’s already plenty of flavor.

I’ve had some less than stellar experiences with really super strong fruit vapes in the past – and this definitely is one, but for whatever reason it never wears you down like a lot of really strong fruit vapes tend to do.

For that reason, this one beat out several other really high quality juices this week. The flavor was just so full, and so well balanced that it couldn’t be ignored, and I found myself reaching for this stuff all week long.

This is definitely a must try juice.

The Bottom Line

Boy what a week it was. I finally had some time to really sit down and mess with some of the hardware I’ve had waiting in the wings here, and that time totally paid off, giving me possibly my best week of vaping ever.

The range of juices this week was pretty dramatic – some pretty bad ones, some pretty good ones, and a few “meh”.

I have a pretty nice lineup in the works for next week’s juice battle and a few more tutorials on the docket for this week, so be sure to stay tuned!
