Juice Battle 29

juice-battle-6-2

It’s Monday and that means it’s time for another juice battle. Fresh of last week’s tobacco battle, I decided to go another direction this week and ended up vaping mostly fruits. I had a lot of melon, banana and berries to work my way through in the form of 10 different juices that will go head to head here to determine the best of the week.

I will say right off the bat that this was not a particularly good week, and I really only liked about 3 of the 10 juices I reviewed. Kind of disappointing after I have had quite a few weeks in a row with really stiff competition – but every once in a while there’s a week like this.

At any rate, enough chatting – let’s dive right into the countdown!

#10 Roar Vapor: Poison Peach

poison-peach

Coming in dead last this week is Roar Vapor with their peach-tobacco blend, Poison Peach. Here’s what they say about it:

Exactly what you think it is, this is our signature tobacco “Poison” combined with our ever famous Peach. The combination is glorious, specially if you enjoy Poison Apple or Poison Banana already. Formerly known as Peach Cigarillo on another site.

Based on description alone, I thought this one sounded halfway decent.

After a quick whiff of the bottle, I immediately detected a strong dosage of Funk. This one has a very strong perfume tone to it. If you’ve read many of my juice battles/reviews, you will know that I encounter a juice like this every so often – if I had to guess I would say 1 in 15 juices I try these days has this funk to it. It is most common in tobaccos, but other juices have been known to have it as well.

Basically, the juice tastes like pure perfume from start to finish. It’s strong, unnatural and I find it completely unvapable. Not only is it unvapable, but the stench will seep into your atty, drip tip and anything else unfortunate enough to come into contact with it.

The sad thing is, with this juice I was able to pick up a very faint undertone of nutty and rustic tasting tobacco, but the perfume drowned it out so badly that there was just no way I could make myself enjoy this one. I found it to be completely unvapable.

#9 ECBlend Banana Berry Bomb

banana-berry-bomb

Coming in 9th place this week is Banana Berry Bomb from ECBlend. Here’s what they say about it:

Banana Berry Bomb – Banana blended with 3 berries. Fruit lovers will enjoy this blend.

Unfortunately I had this one with no nicotine, so I really wasn’t able to evaluate the throat hit. The vapor production on the other hand, was really quite good and I assume this one would probably hit just fine at 12 or 18mg.

The big problem I had with this juice was accuracy/flavor.

For a banana flavored juice, I found this one to be noticeably lacking any kind of banana flavor at all. It has kind of a generic berry taste to it that starts off nice and light, but as you get to the exhale it fades to a perfume-like flavor that is really not very good at all. It’s not as bad as a juice with the full out funk like Poison Peach, but it’s definitely noticeable, and the rest of the flavor was not good enough to make this one worthwhile.

Generally with banana flavored vapes, I have come to expect them to have a strong banana component – as it seems to be a flavor that is easy to bring out in ejuices for whatever reason.  I literally didn’t get any banana flavor from this juice at all, and the berry flavor that I did get was really not very good.

Overall this one was just not up to par.

#8 Alice in Vapeland: Mystic Mandalime

mystic-mandalime

This one sounded amazing to me – mandarin orange and lime. A great combo that seems like it would be hard to fuck up. Here’s what they have to say about it:

An exotic breeze of mandarin and lime, to whisk your senses to far off lands . . Enjoy the sweet tartness of these two flavors together! Taste the sweetness of the delightful mandarin, and then the spicy hit of the bold lime.

Overall, I found this juice to be wildly inaccurate.

It basically tastes like the AIV base, which if you have tried a handful of AIV juices, you will know many have a similar “base” flavor -the best way I can describe it is very light fabric softener.

Once you cut through the base, the only other flavor that is really present at all is a very mediocre and light orange flavor. As a whole, the juice tastes almost identical to their orange creamsicle that I reviewed a couple weeks ago. Both are very basic orange flavors at best, with absolutely no extraordinary qualities.

What really disappointed me about this juice is that I didn’t get any lime flavor at all which I was really hoping for.

At best, it’s a below average orange flavor. Nothing special at all, and I didn’t find it to be even close to accurate.

#7 Azure Vaping: Frothy Toffee Coffee Review

frothy-toffee-coffee

This is another great example of a juice that sounded amazing to me on paper – amazing enough that I bought it!  Here’s what they say about frothy toffee coffee:

Sweeter coffee with a dark toffee finish

Just like with Mandalime above, this one didn’t come close to living up to the description. Also just like Mandalime, the most prominent flavor I got from this juice was the Azure “base”. This is a very basic and light artificial tone that carries throughout a good portion of their juices- particularly the lighter flavored ones. The base flavor itself isn’t bad, it just doesn’t taste that good when it’s the primary flavor you taste in the juice.

Besides the base, I got a light hint of coffee. That’s really about it. Just regular old coffee. No real cream presence to speak of, and definitely no toffee presence. In fact, I have yet to try a toffee flavored vape from anywhere that tastes anything like toffee, so that didn’t exactly surprise me.

This one hits OK, and the flavor isn’t nasty or anything, so it’s a serviceable juice. I just didn’t find it to be particularly accurate and the flavor is still below average at best.

#6 Five Pawns: Gambit

gambit

If you’ve read this far, this week probably seems like a big hate-fest. If you go back and check out some juice battles from previous weeks, you will see that I normally don’t hate more than 1 or 2 juices in a given week. For whatever reason, this week I honestly thought that juices 7-10 were outright bad. That’s why Gambit managed to land as high as it did in this battle. Here’s what they say about it:

GAMBIT: The classic, mellow apple pie makes a sweet and savory impression with flaky crust and decadent caramel, lightened by a dollop of French vanilla ice cream and unsweetened whipped cream.

On a normal week, I could easily see this juice finishing much lower because I really didn’t think it was that good.

When I first tried this juice, I could not for the life of me figure out what it was supposed to be. When I finally went and read the description, I was shocked to find that it’s actually supposed to be apple pie flavored.

The flavor profile I get from this juice is basically cream on the inhale, cream on the exhale. Oddly enough, I do get a very pronounced caramel flavor on the aftertaste, but it isn’t present at all during the actual vape. The vape itself is basically pure cream.

Now, if there’s one good thing I can say about Five Pawns, it’s that they do have a very nice cream flavor – its a cream flavor that I have not seen even close to being replicated by any other vendor. It’s a little on the lighter side yet still has a nice richness to it and a very unique cream taste.

There’s no way I can say that the cream component tastes bad – it’s actually really good.

The main problems I had with this vape are very poor accuracy – I didn’t think it tasted even remotely close to apple pie, and even worse, it has a terrible throat hit. At 12mg, I wasn’t expecting much, but this juice honestly hits like a no-nic juice. It’s actually quite pathetic. Based on how poorly this one performs at 12mg, I don’t even think I would be comfortable getting it at 24mg.

All around, the cream taste was nice but I thought both the throat hit and accuracy were woefully bad, and if there weren’t so many clearly awful juices in this week’s lineup, Gambit probably would have been closer to the bottom.

#5 Alternate Cig: Blue Banana

blue-banana

I’ve basically been really impressed with all the juices I have tried from Alternate Cig so far, and although Blue Banana didn’t exactly sound amazing to me, I figured it would at least be pretty decent. Here’s what they say about it:

A fruity flavor you can’t resist! Ever tried the little runts hard candy? This taste just like it! This e liquid back a sweet blueberry taste with sugary candy banana on top. If you enjoy blueberry banana smoothies and little ‘runts’ candies then you have found your premium vape juice. Are blue banana e-liquid is left to soak in the flavor for about one month after we make it. This means you are getting the best taste possible. The blueberries and banana will seep together to form the best taste ever. Nothing hits the spot like our blue banana.

This juice was just OK for me. Luckily unlike the previous 5 juices this week, Blue Banana is actually not a bad juice. It’s supposed to be a banana and blueberry flavor that mimics Runts candy.

I personally found a really nice, accurate candy-style banana flavor on the inhale. On the exhale, the banana flavor dissipates slightly and paves way for a very generic berry/candy flavor. I didn’t think it tasted much like actual blueberry at all, and I certainly wouldn’t have guessed there was any blueberry in this vape if I blind tasted it.

But the banana component is good and accurate, so if you are a banana fan, you would probably quite like this juice because the banana comes through nicely and even though the blueberry isn’t really that good, it doesn’t ruin the rest of the flavor either, so this one turned out OK.

I didn’t think it tasted like an exact match with Runts candy, but it’s in the ballpark.

I would say this is a pretty average juice that might surprise you if you are big into bananas.

#4 Good Life Vapor: Melon Boba

melon-boba

Coming in at #4 this week is Melon Boba from GLV. Here’s what they say about it:

The best medley of melons infused with a hint of cream as well as a refreshing hint of mint. A blast of relaxing and sweet flavors balanced to perfection.

When I first smelled the bottle I got a powerful whiff of melon. So far, I haven’t tried any melon vape that has a similar strong melon scent that ends up not tasting good. This one is no exception.

It basically has an extremely strong melon flavor – actually to be even more specific, this one is pretty clearly watermelon flavor. It also has a touch of mint to it. I found the mint to be quite light – in fact at times I didn’t notice it at all, while at other times it came through far more prominently. It is supposed to have a touch of cream to it, which personally I didn’t get at all. The melon really stole the show here.

Now since this one is called Melon Boba, I have to assume the Boba is a reference to Boba Tea. I have tried other Boba Tea vapes that are really quite amazing. Plain Boba tastes similar to vanilla to me, and I can see how it would get buried by the extremely heavy dose of melon in this juice. So since it wasn’t really in the description I can’t say for sure if this is supposed to actually taste like Boba tea, but I have to imagine that was the idea based on the name. If that’s the case, then I really don’t think they did a very good job of incorporating the Boba at all.

This is a good juice but I didn’t think it was super special. It actually reminded me a lot of Hobbes Blood, except not quite as good. Less flavor besides melon and the throat hit wasn’t stellar.

#3 Vapetasia – Citrus Breeze

citrus-breeze

Our 3rd place finisher this week is from a vendor I’ve never tried before. This one is called Citrus Breeze from Vapetasia. Here’s what they say about it:

Citrus notes with a strong, refreshing blast of coolness. 70%vg/30%pg

This was an interesting one for me. When I smelled it in the bottle, it actually smelled a lot like bubblegum, so I was having a hard time imagining how this would turn into a citrus breeze.

The flavor, oddly enough, was also fairly bubblegum like. Maybe not quite as strong as actual bubble gum flavor, but a definite candy-gum style flavor. I really didn’t get a ton of actual citrus either, but it does have kind of a nice overall fruity vibe.

For whatever reason, even though the flavors didn’t totally make sense to me, I had a hard time putting this one down. To accompany the fruity/candy flavor, there’s a really nice cooling aspect of this juice. Not menthol, but a cool finish – that’s where the “breeze” part comes in, I think.

The “breeze” actually really makes this juice pop. Where I would have expected the citrus to make a zesty impact, it actually turned out to be the cooler putting a nice exclamation point on the vape.

For kind of an unusual flavor, I found myself going back to this one again and again. If you were in it only for the citrus, I would say you might end up being a little disappointed, but if you want a really nice, light summery type juice that is quite crisp and refreshing, this one will easily keep you entertained.

#2 Seduce Juice: Jezebel

jezebel

This week’s runner up is Jezebel from Seduce Juice. Here’s what they say about it:

Jezebel, an eclectic blend of fruit flavors.

I wasn’t expecting much from this one before I tried it but it quickly turned into one of my favorites. In fact, it was really hard to choose between Jezebel and the ultimate winner this week for 1st place. While the rest of the field from 4-10 was really weak, 1 and 2 were both extremely strong contenders this week.

Basically Jezebel is a really nice melon flavor.

It’s not like the supercharged melon you get in Melon Boba where it leaves your mouth feeling like it’s dripping with melon. This is a VERY full flavored juice too just like Melon Boba, but it doesn’t have that super full and wet aspect to the flavor – it stays a little more dry and the melon is less pronounced.

In fact, I vaped this for about a day and I was actually thinking it had more of a pineapple feel to it. Then I had a couple of my buddies try it and they both instantly thought it tasted like melon. After burning through the whole bottle, I now think melon is the primarly flavor too, but it’s interesting because there are other hints of flavor peeking through. I definitely feel like there is some pineapple in there and I could also see maybe a little peach.

Performance-wise, this juice was the best of the week. At 12mg in a 50/50 blend, Jezebel gave me the most impressive throat hit of the week and amazing vapor production. As I said above, the flavor is super full. It’s hard to compare it to Melon Boba because Melon Boba is almost beyond being full flavored, but make no mistake, Jezebel packs an amazing amount of flavor, and that flavor stays consistent and balanced.

I normally don’t get super excited by fruit medleys but this one really impressed me a lot and I had a good time trying to figure out what flavors were inside. This is really a great vape and one I would totally buy again and highly recommend.

#1 Smokecignals: Iced Tea

iced-tea

This one really blew me away. A seemingly simple concept that was executed to absolute perfection and resulted in a nearly perfect vape. Here’s what they say about it:

Sweet or unsweet. With or without lemon. Your style.

I got mine with slight sweetness and heavy lemon – “Almost Arnold Golfer Style”.

I’m really glad I ordered it like that, and would absolutely do it again.

I love tea vapes, and I love lemon. I have only tried one or two other iced tea vapes in the past and they were unremarkable at best.

This one absolutely blew me away with the accuracy.

The iced tea flavor is mild and tastes exactly like real iced tea. I got mine with heavy lemon and the lemon is integrated beautifully into the juice. It is clearly present on both the inhale and exhale and particularly on the exhale has an amazing sourness to it that tastes totally authentic and really makes the whole juice pop. It’s super crisp and refreshing and basically tastes 100% accurate. The sweetness is super light and is just the right amount for me.

This is one of those juices where there is literally nothing bad I can really say about it. It’s totally accurate. The flavor is full, complex and delicious. The throat hit and vapor are both top notch. To top it all off, it’s even pretty affordably priced. I got mine during a sale for $1.99/10 ml. I wish I would have gotten several bottles because this is one of my favorite juices. Unlike other light, citrus heavy juices, this one doesn’t caramelize and change flavor on the atomizer, so you can be confident that the flavor will remain the same even after vaping a ton of it.

With summer finally here in Minnesota, I’m spending a lot more time outside and crisp, refreshing vapes like this are absolutely perfect for those hot summer days. I would absolutely order this one again, and highly recommend it.

The Bottom Line

After an awesome Tobacco Week last week and several really nice weeks preceding it, I was finally brought back down to earth this week with a pretty poor field to choose from. Luckily I found 2 absolutely outstanding juices in Jezebel and Iced Tea that I really enjoyed vaping and can confidently add to my small group of favorites that I would actually consider buying again. Out of all the juice battles I do and all the juices I review week in and week out, I really don’t find that many juices that I consider true favorites to the point where I would buy them and vape them again. There are so many juices out there that it’s usually easier and more fun to try new juices than it is to keep circulating the same group of juices over and over, so it’s rare that I find any that I would seriously consider getting again, and this week I found 2, so as shitty as the first 7 were, it was worth it in the end.

In other news this week, I spent a lot of time messing with my good old stainless steel Nemesis getting the 3D hybrid atomizer working, and boy did I ever get it working. I have been absolutely amazed by how well it performs. I would strongly suggest taking a look at it if you already have a Nemesis. It’s super easy to set up and a great rig for using in the car or other situations where dripping isn’t easy to do.

I also set up a Tumblr which has all my posts from Vapecore plus my Instagram feed, so be sure to check that out if you’re into Tumblr.

This week I have a bunch more juices to review and more hardware to go over, so it should be a good one.
