MBV Gwar Series – German Chocolate Beefcake Review

Ok, so I’ve got all of MBV’s Gwar Series here. In fact, I’ve had them for quite some time now, and it is finally time to review them all.  First up on the block is German Chocolate Beefcake. As you can see from the picture, I’ve indulged quite a bit in this juice since I got it and I have a pretty good feel for it after blazing through a full 30ml bottle.

Here’s what they say about it:

From our newest specialty line “GWAR Fluids”:  German Chocolate Beefcake. A sweet cake flavor with the perfect combination of chocolate, coconut, and caramel. This liquid was concocted from an ancient recipe enjoyed by all who reside on the planet Cholesterol.

This juice has a medium brown tone to it, and smells like chocolate and coconut in the bottle. I’ve got it at 18mg in their house blend.

First Impressions

When I first opened the bottle, I had a feeling I was really going to like this one because it has a heavenly coconut scent, surprisingly similar to an actual piece of German Chocolate cake. If you don’t know what German Chocolate cake is, basically it’s a chocolate cake with a caramel frosting infused with coconut and pecans.

I’ve been most recently vaping this on my SMY God 180 mod on a single 0.5 ohm microcoil at between 30 and 50 watts.

I initially vaped through about half the bottle and absolutely loved it. Then I set it aside for a couple months and brought it back out this week to finish it off. I have to say that I remember it tasting better before than it is tasting for me now.

The main beef I have with it is that it doesn’t quite taste as good as it smells. The flavors are there in some capacity, but it does have kind of a chemical-ish aftertaste to it that makes it considerably less enjoyable. Now at first I thought this might be because I have been vaping it at 50 watts, which is about 20 watts higher than I was several months ago when I first vaped it, but I experimented with different wattages as low as 20 and I didn’t notice much of a difference.

The Bottom Line

Taste. Overall I think it has a decent flavor. The actual taste doesn’t live up to the amazing scent it has in the bottle, which is dead-on German chocolate. In fact, while it smells strongly of coconut in the bottle, the actual coconut flavor in the vape doesn’t come off as well as I would like. It really has a high-pitched artificial tone to it that dramatically reduces the overall experience. That said, even being kind of a chemical-ish tasting juice, it isn’t really bad either – evidenced by the fact that my bottle is just about completely empty – so despite being somewhat lackluster, I still had no problem vaping through 30ml of it.

True to Description. I would say that if this juice tasted as good as it smelled, it would get a perfect rating. The scent is absolutely a dead on match. Unfortunately it comes up quite a bit short so I had to rate it accordingly at the middle of the road.

Throat Hit. The great thing about this juice is that it has a wonderfully satisfying throat hit. I’ve had problems in the past with some MBV juices underdelivering on throat hit, and this is not one of them.

Quality of Vape. The throat hit and vapor production are both spot on, and the juice smells great. The main issue I have with it is that it really does have a strong artificial tasting component to it, which for me, makes it quite a bit less satisfying overall. Again, it’s a highly vapable juice and the overall performance is great, but the flavor is average at best.

Overall. I have to wonder if maybe steeping it for several months actually did something to the coconut flavor that made it taste less authentic. I’ve had quite a few other coconut flavored vapes that have this same kind of chemical taste to them, and at the same time I’ve had several really excellent ones. So I feel like the artificial notes definitely stem from the coconut, not any of the other flavors, and it is really too bad because the scent of this juice is probably one of my all time favorites and I really wish the flavor lived up to the high standard set by the scent. I would say this one is worth a shot if you like coconut, but I would suggest vaping through it quickly if you get a good first impression because I slept on mine and now I really don’t care for it much.

I would rate this one overall as “hit or miss”.
